KULGAM, May 11: JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla today appealed the JKUT Government to address the genuine issues of the Kashmir Pandit community at Vessu Colony in Kulgam.
Bhalla visited Kashmir and listened to their grievances as former Minister was appealed to visit their colony by the inhabitants. On the occasion, inhabitants of the colony submitted memorandum of demands apprising JKPCC working president of various issues including inadequate accommodation, promotion and inter-district transfer of employees appointed under PM’s Package besides establishment of KV School for their wards.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla appealed the Govt to have a sympathetic look at the demands of KPs which are very genuine and real need of all PM Package employees. He said this package which was announced in 2008 by then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, it was given to all migrants employees with an aspiration that the displaced community will gain confidence and will go back to their respective homes which they left undesirably. Almost 13 years have passed, the community has not developed confidence rather they are living a traumatic life which is very unfortunate.
Bhalla said that previous govt had announced 512 flats (2BHK) flats here at Vessu camp, it was decided that the project will be completed in two phases .First phase will comprise of 208 flats and the second one will be having 304 flats, the land which was the requisite for the said project was around 180 Kanals but almost 8 years have passed unfortunately the first phase of this project has not been completed. He appealed the Govt to look at this matter with priority as KPs are living in fabricated huts for last 13 years now.
Bhalla further said PM package employees are facing lot of issues like security concerns, transfers, salary issues, promotions etc but all the time they have to rush to higher authorities which becomes cumbersome always as it is very difficult to get appointments all the time with higher ups . He demanded a nodal officer at each district should be appointed so that their grievances can be heard and thus solved.
Bhalla said that recent target killing scenario of minorities in the valley PM Package employees are totally aggrieved and unsure about their safety and security . Last year the valley witnessed assignations of lot of minorities including PM Package employees out of fear all employees had apprehensions of their killings also so all PM package employees decided not to go their respective offices for some time as Government was also reluctant in forcing them to resume their duties. As a result of which all employees had undergone many leaves in their service records . He demanded to treat those forced leaves as distress leaves or some special leaves and help these employees to get redemption of this inner striving unrest in their minds and hearts.
