BFDC holds protest dharna

JAMMU, Mar 4: Bahu Fort Development Committee (BFDC) today held a protest dharna against the Government for not fulfilling demands which were bring projected since October, 1999 by the Committee. The protest was held under the leadership of its president Rajeev Charak.
The Committee maintained that State Government as well as Chairman of Shrine Board has totally failed to fulfill their demands. Speaking on the occasion speakers reiterated their demands which included formation of Shrine Board of Shri Mata Maha Kali Temple at Bahu Fort or taking it under the control of Shrine Board of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, widening of the Parking Site and construction of ‘Sarai’ at Shri Mata Maha Kali Temple at Bahu Fort, besides construction of Four-Lane Road from Police Station, Bagh-e-Bahu via Bahu Fort to Bye-Pass and eviction of forest land at Raika and Maha Maya City Forest from the land mafia.
While Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Charak said that the priests of Mata Maha Kali Temple as well as police officials encroached illegally the land inside and outside of Bahu Fort and they have been demolishing the old monument/heritage of birth place of ‘Dogras’. He said the Archeology Department and District Administration have been giving discriminative attitude towards the Fort. The Khilaf – Warzi Wings of Archaeology, JDA, Municipality and Defence have paid no attention to save this monument. All the garbage and filthy material have been filled in the pond.
Baldev Raj Nagotra, chairman, BFDC and Sohan Verma, secretary, BFDC, also spoke on the occasion and warned the Government and other concerned departments to fulfill their demands within 72 hours failing which they will be forced to start other mode of agitation.
