BILLAWAR, May 13: Local residents of the area today demanded that work on road from Berl Morh to Dharalta be started immediately as people of the area are facing many hardships due to failure of authorities to construct this road. They said the road is actually the part of road Pallan to Upper Dhar via Patti to be constructed under PMGSY. Earlier constructed by PWD from Berl Morh to Dharalta High School covering a distance around 2.5 kms and later the work was abandoned, they added.
It was constructed as kachcha road around 15 years ago and was never transformed to pacca road, they said. In 2015 less than half of the road was polished over with tar coal but that soon was washed away within month or so.
The people said Dharalta being territorially largest village in the district Kathua, the tractors trolleys, matadors, load carriers, autos and other automobiles on everyday basis have only deteriorated the condition making it worst. The representatives including MLAs carry the attitude of deaf ear and blind look keeping in view the remoteness of the area.
The residents said daily commuters students, local residents suffer resulting lot of frustration and anguish among them. It is high time for authorities to get their attention back to the area, carry on the developmental work and connect this remote area to the mainstream. Roads are the lifelines of the State and the precursor of development, opportunities and prosperity, they added .
They said ignoring such important issues only retrograde the local people and thus increasing the gulf wider than ever.
