JAMMU, Feb 15: Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman of Block RS Pura, Tarsem Lal Sharma and Sarpanch of Gandli Panchayat Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh Saini jointly kick started the work of proper drainage system in village Gandli amid presence of many dignitaries including Sarpanch Surjit Chaudhary, Naib Sarpanch Pyarelal and other representatives of the Panchayat.
In his address on the occasion, the BDC Chairman said that development works are being carried out at a rapid pace in every village of the Block. He said that as the funds are being provided by the Government, development works are going on smoothly and unhindered in the Block. He said that the BJP Government at the Center is continuously working for the development of rural and urban areas and every village in the Block has been connected with ‘Pucca’ roads.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh Saini said that the construction work of drain has been started for robust sanitation in the village and it is estimated to be completed at a cost of Rs 4 lakh. He informed that under the first phase, Rs 2 lakh will be spent on the drain and only after that the work of the second phase will be started.
Gurdeep Saini raised serious concern over the slow pace of development work on ground level by Rural Development Department. He demanded that the development works upto Rs 3 lakh should be allotted on the recommendation of PRIs as due to e-tendering procedure adopted by the Rural Development Department funds to the tune of crores of rupees have lapsed.
