KATHUA, Feb1: Basantpur police has seized three tractors involved in illegal mining in the area.
According to Ramnish Gupta, Additional SP, Kathua, a team of Police Post (PP) Basantpur in its jurisdictional area found three tractors indulged in illegal mining that were also being used for illegal transportation of construction material.
He said the police swung into action and seized all the trolleys and later handed over them to the officials of the Mining Department, Kathua for further proceedings.
He said district police, Kathua has taken a tough stand against illegal mining without permission and if found, defaulters will be dealt strictly under law. The police also warned the mining mafia to refrain from illegal mining or face action.
He said the Kathua police has also increased vigil on the nallahs and rivers to frustrate the designs of mining mafia.
