JAMMU, July 23: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu, today decided to suspend the work till July 30 to defend and promote the cause of Jammu and force the biased and vindictive authorities in the State and at the Centre to establish AIIMS in Jammu.
The decision was taken by the general house after a marathon meeting at the Bar Chamber in the High Court Complex in which more than 500 advocates participated.
The participants accused the BJP of breaching the faith of struggling people of Jammu region, adding the people of Jammu region had voted for the BJP in large numbers and with enthusiasm hoping that the BJP, if came to power in the State, would end discrimination and compensate for the socio-economic and political losses suffered by the region during all these 67 years at the hands of New Delhi backed Kashmiri rulers.
“It is regrettable that the BJP shattered the faith of the people of Jammu region and compelled them to come on to the streets to achieve even an institution like AIIMS. The people of Jammu region had not voted for the BJP to get such a shabby treatment for the massive mandate they gave to it,” said Abhinav Sharma and threatened that BJP will have to pay through its nose for its act of betrayal.
He informed the general house that more than 130 civil society organizations and leaders of various organizations including trade, transport and industry are part of the ACC and they are all working in unison. He reiterated that ACC will achieve for Jammu the proposed AIIMS and warned the BJP of serious consequences in case it failed to feel the Jammu’s pulse.
Former Bar presidents B S Slathia, V R Wazir, D S Saini and Ashok Vijay Gupta and Senior Member of the Bar KK Pangotra and Shah Mohd Choudhary were among those who spoke on the occasion.
