KATHUA, May 19: A protest was held by Bar Association Hiranagar against the Sub Registrar, Hiranagar under the presidentship of Vijay Sharma along with senior members including Naresh Kumar Gupta in which all the prominent advocates of the Bar were present.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Hiranagar is conferred with the power of Sub Registrar Hiranagar. The protest was the outcome of the adamant attitude and behaviour of Sub Registrar, Hiranagar towards the advocates. The Bar Association twice earlier submitted a memorandum to the Sub Registrar in which it was submitted to discharge the duties as Sub Registrar under the mandate of Registration Act and the law settled by Supreme Court and High Courts.
In spite of that the Sub Registrar, Hiranagar rejected the documents presented for registration by not adhering to the provisions of law and the law settled by Supreme Court and High Courts and she even refused to comply with the guidelines and clarifications issued by the Government of UT of J&K. The result of such behaviour and attitude is that the poor and bonafide parties have to suffer a lot.
The protesting members of the Bar said although remedy of appeal is there but these are the only poor and bonafide citizens who ultimately have to suffer due the attitude of the Sub Registrar Hiranagar. The Bar Association Hiranagar through this protest has given ultimatum of eight days to Sub Registrar Hiranagar to mend her working style and to act as per the provisions of Registration Act and not to exceed the jurisdiction conferred by the law failing which the Association will be constrained to adopt drastic steps.
