Srinagar Apr 6: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today described the banning of civilian movement on highway twice a week as horrible and said that it is not acceptable.
Mehbooba while talking to media persons on the sidelines of the function at Tangmarg said that the decision to restrict the civilian movement on highway on every Wednesday and Sunday is disagreeable.
She said that Jammu and Kashmir is of its people and nobody has a right to restrict their movement anyway and banning the movement of civilian twice a week was none of their business to decide when the people can move on highway and when not. “It is the right of people to decide anything about their movement”, she said.

She, however, refused to utter anything over the statements made by NC president Dr. Farooq. “He (Dr. Farooq Abdullah) is an elderly person and everybody knows he changes his statements from morning to evening”, she said.
Mehbooba while reacting to the statements over the collapsing of PDP-BJP Coalition Government, said that BJP leaders are making different statements over the falling of Government but the fact is that she was insisting them to implement agenda of alliance.
“I was insisting them (BJP) not to revoke 370, revoke AFSPA and continuation of ceasefire that created conflict between us (PDP-BJP). PDP was also demanding dropping of two ministers over Rassana case and the step we took regarding dropping the cases against 12000 youth due to which the Coalition Government collapsed,” the PDP president said.
Earlier, while addressing a rally at Tangmarg Mehbooba launched a scathing attack on forces attempting to fragment the State to disempowered its people and said that “our society needs to collectively reject these renewed nefarious moves”.
She said that division of “our State on sectarian lines, aggravating the fault lines are the ways and means of fragmenting our state and weaken our special status and thus dilute its Muslim majority character”.
“Recent statement of some right wing political leaders using lure of sops for a particular community, tactical mandate for Lok Sabha elections by some parties and fielding of proxies clearly point to a design to fragment the popular mandate of the people of the state. Because they want to paddle the lies that only Kashmiri speaking Muslims of the valley are for the special status of the valley and all other sections of the society are not”, Mehbooba said.
Those igniting the fires of Gujjar-Pahari, Shia-Sunni, North-South divide are the real enemies of Jammu and Kashmir need to be out rightly rejected,” she said.
