LEH, Mar 26: In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, Commissioner/ Secretary Finance, Rigzian Sampheal has ordered the banks to ensure that ATMs and electronic/digital channels of payment are available seamlessly round the clock without hassles.
Convener Union Territory Level Banker Committee, (UTLBC), Ladakh and Lead District Managers (Leh/Kargil) were directed to ensure Government’s strong measure on social distances and lock down to check further spread of COVID-19 outbreak.
Convener UTLBC Ladakh and Lead District Managers (Leh/Kargil) have also been directed to ensure that all the essential services at banks’ branches are meticulously ensured so that the customer may not face any difficulty.
Apart from this timing for customer has been restricted from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm from March 24 to April 15. Responsibility has been fixed on Bank/Branch Managers to ensure proper sanitization of all equipments/computers/counter in the banks.
These Managers are also instructed to ensure that all the ATMs are fully loaded with cash so that customers may not face any inconvenience and ATM services should remain functional from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm while continuity of Online Banking Services should also be ensured.
The Banks are also instructed to operate with a minimum 50 per cent of staff.
The order further stated that the Convener UTLBC and District Lead Bank Managers shall execute other banking services in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate and the restriction orders imposed in this regard under various provisions of law by the District Administration.
