POONCH, Oct 17: The villagers from Balnoi area Mendhar Sub Division held protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD), for the alleged failure of power supply in the area.
The locals of the area including Ex-Sarpanch, Mohd Sharief alleged that the local transformer of Ward 7, Balnoi Forward was lying on the ground for the last several years, posing threat to the cattle and children of the area. Some casualties also took place due to it. After lot of hue & cry by the public, a few months back four poles were erected at that point and additional cables were also fixed but the local PDD staff has not given connection to the installed transformer, on the plea that some more infrastructure is required for it.
The people led by former Sarpanch held protest and raised slogans against the PDD staff and also local legislator. He alleged that in view of the political rivalry the people of this area have been deprived of the power supply. He demanded intervention of Chief Engineer PDD (EM&RE) Jammu and the concerned minister so that power supply could be restored to about hundred families suffering for the last few months. They warned to conduct ‘gherao’ of PDD office at Mendhar Sub Division if the power supply was not restored within one week.
