Balmatkote residents without electricity for last 3 weeks

REASI, Jan 22: With the damage caused to a PDD transformer in Balmatkote area of sub division Mahore during the snowfall, the area is without electricity supply for the last three weeks.
The electric transformer went out of order during the snowfall and was removed from there but no other transformer has been restored to the Balmatkote even after 18 days, locals told Excelsior.
Expressing strong resentment against PDD, they said that power remains suspended for weeks together but PDD is charging flat rates from them every month which is great injustice with the public. The Government is charging for the service which it is not being provided to the public, they added.
“The power transformer of the area supplies power to near about 50 households but due to no electricity from last several days we are facing immense hardship in this hard winter,” they said.
When contacted, SDM Mahore Santosh Sukhdeva, said that they had already installed/repaired transformers in several areas after snowfall and restored electricity in these areas. The transformer will also be installed in Balmatkote within 2-3 days, he added.
