Bali takes stock of healthcare facilities at Jammu High Court Complex

Interacts with Members of BAJ, announces immediate construction of PHC Building

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26 – Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat visited the High Court Complex at Janipur here today to take stock of the medicare facilities in the Government dispensary established in this largely visited place.

Accompanied by Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Sr. Advocate and President Bar Association Jammu, B.S. Salathia, Director Health Services, Dr. Gurjeet Singh, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, MD, JKPCC, Naeem Ahmed, Jt Director Planning, Madan Lal, the Minister had on-the-spot appraisal of the facilities available in the dispensary. He also inspected the proposed site for construction of Primary Health Centre (PHC) building in the court premises for which the foundation stone was laid in the year 2012 by some High Court Judges.

While interacting with the Members of Bar Association in the High Court Complex, the Minister said that Government is committed to strengthen the health infrastructure along with diagnostic facilities in the High Court complex, where a large number of visitors’ throng daily. He also assured to upgrade the existing dispensary to the level of PHC and also issued on-the-spot directions to the officers of JKPCC to prepare the DPR and start the work for construction of building within a week’s time on the proposed site where the foundation stone has already laid.

The Minister also shared the health scenario with the Bar Association and initiatives taken by the Government to further improve the facilities, especially in the prominent health institutions in Jammu city including, Government Medical College, SMGS Hospital and Gandhi Nagar hospital. He maintained that the Government will add adequate number of beds in the emergency of GMC and Labour Room/wards of SMGS, where the rush of patients has increased manifold during the past some years.

Earlier, B.S. Salathia along with other Members of Bar Association welcomed the Minister on reaching the Court Complex. Salathia, in his brief address projected the demand for immediate construction of PHC building on the proposed site and up-gradation of medicare facilities along with deployment of adequate staff in view of the huge influx of visitors including, members of judiciary, lawyers, staff and clients to the High Court complex on daily basis.

He also highlighted the achievements and initiatives in the health sector during the past couple of years under the present leadership with special reference to improvement in the health indicators at national level, sanctioning of 2 AIIMS, 5 medical colleges and two Ayurvedic/Unani Medical Colleges in the State.
