Bali demands regularization policy for SPOs of J&K, Ladakh

JAMMU, Apr 29: President All India Voice of Poor People and General Secretary PTU, Sewa Singh Bali urged upon Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to frame the regularization policy for Special Police Officers (SPOs) of J&K & Ladakh.
Addressing a press conference here today Bali urged the Home Minister to direct Principal Secretary Home Department J&K and Ladakh to file reply in writ Petitions titled ‘Sewa Singh Bali & ors. Vs. U.T of J&K & ors’ which are pending for adjudication before High Court of Jammu and pertains for framing up of regularization policy of SPOs of J&K & Ladakh.
Bali said that he has already approached the Prime Minister regarding framing up of regularization policy for the SPOs.
He informed that he also approached Supreme Court of India and filed writ petition on 8.3.2021 wherein the apex court directed him to approach High Court with the grievances and the High Court of J&K in turn issued notice to the Home Department to file reply.
Bali informed that no reply has been filed by the Principal Secretary, Home Department J&K till date and the SPOs are tirelessly working with less salary and some of them have even lost their lives during the course of their employment but in return, they are not getting proper compensation by the government whereas their counterpart constables who are doing same duties get much higher salary as well as ex-gratia for their services.
Sanjeet Singh Katoch and Baber Khan were also present in the press conference.
