Bali Bhagat expresses serious concern over high mortality rate

JAMMU, May 13: Former Health Minister and senior BJP leader, Bali Bhagat, while expressing serious concern over the fast increasing mortality rate of COVID-19 patients, has alerted the administration and the people to be fully prepared to face the highly challenging situation in the coming days.
In a press note issued here, today, the former Minister said, “According to the experts, the infection through the deadly virus spread is expected to be in full swing in the coming days, thus giving rise to a challenging situation and if appropriate measures are not taken in anticipation, then controlling the mortality rate would become almost impossible. Therefore there is dire need to adopt a multipronged strategy to fight against the spread of this dreadful virus,” he added.
The senior BJP leader said that under the multi pronged strategy there should be strict imposition of Corona curfew, SOPs and protocols besides ensuring vaccination of all age groups. He asserted that the Union Territory must formulate the multipronged strategy on topmost priority.
While appreciating the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha for enhancing the Oxygen supported bed capacity by 800 beds in a week’s time taking total of oxygen supported beds to 3283 in Jammu region, the senior BJP leader appealed to him to direct the concerned executive agencies to complete the construction and other works including 300 bedded Bone & Joint Hospital, 100 bedded new Emergency Block in GMC Jammu, 275 bedded Additional Maternity Block of SMGS and 100 bedded State Cancer Institute in SSH Jammu on war footing basis in fight against COVID. He said after completion of work on these under construction institutions Jammu will get additional facilities of 775 beds.
He said these measures are inevitable keeping in view the gravity of situation and opinion of the experts. He also welcomed the constitution of Sub Group Committee for auditing the Oxygen supply as per the orders of Supreme Court.
Bali Bhagat said it is necessary for all the stakeholders to fight the battle against COVID-19 unitedly and appealed to the people to play their role by sacredly following the SOPs including the Corona curfew and most importantly get themselves vaccinated against the virus. “However, people especially those in the age group of 18 to 45 years are not being allotted slots in Arogya Setu App and Cowin Portal due to scarcity of vaccines and this discrepancy needs to be addressed on priority.
