POONCH, Jan 28: The villagers from forward Balakote block in district Poonch held protest against the PHE authorities for the acute shortage of water in the area.
The villagers alleged that some elderly people of the area found dirt and a few dead birds in the water tank of the PHE and they informed the higher authorities and also local police authorities. After this the local staff snapped the water supply and dried the tank. The water supply was not restored by the angry staff even after 2-3 days.
The villagers held protest and sought the intervention of the SDM Mendhar and Deputy Commissioner Poonch for the victimization of the people by some local PHE staff members. They also demanded their shifting, action against them and restoration of hygienic supply of water to the area.
