REASI, June 15: Aggrieved over water scarcity, locals of Bakkal today held a strong protest demonstration against the Jal Shakti Department and Konkan Railway.
They raised slogans against the Railway and PHE authorities holding them responsible for the water scarcity. The agitating people also took out a protest march and blocked the Bakkal Bridge for some time.
“While the PHE Department has failed to provide regular supply of drinking water, the Konkan Railway is responsible for the drying up natural resources of water in the area because of the tunneling activity,” they said and appealed the Government to ensure regular supply of drinking water.
The protest continued for more than two hours till the agitating people were pacified by the Police and local authorities.
