JAMMU, Oct 7: Exhorting farming community to launch a decisive battle against pro-capitalist BJP led NDA Government at the Centre, former Rajya Sabha member and veteran PDP leader, Trilok Singh Bajwa regretted that instead of protecting rights of the common people, the Union Government was playing in the hands of corporates.
Bajwa also opposed the decision of the Transport Department to impose nine percent tax on registration of tractors, dubbing it anti-farmers’ move. He was addressing a press conference to formally launch a campaign against controversial Farmers Bills passed by the Parliament.
He said that passing of Bills have given freedom to the corporates to brutally exploit farmers and take away the protection that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) provides to them. “Pro-capitalists and pro-corporates faces of BJP have been exposed. Now it is high-time for the common people in general and farmers in particular to launch a decisive battle against this tyrannical regime which has shamelessly bulldozed all democratic institutions”, Bajwa exhorted and announced that campaign against Farmers Bills will be intensified in the days to come.
“Farmers’ Bills are a deadly attack on farmers-agricultural labourers so that they do not get MSP and are also forced to sell their land to capitalists,”, he said and added that it was part of dangerous game-plan to dole-out license to corporate world to capture agriculture sector of India. The bills that have been passed are not to help the farmers, but to help the corporate sector and big capitalists, he alleged adding that the “MSP that farmers get is in danger”.
Taking a dig at the Transport Department for imposing nine percent additional tax on registration of tractors, Bajwa said that this additional burden would break the backbone of the farming community. He demanded immediate withdrawal of this tax.
Dubbing BJP led NDA Government as dictatorial, Bajwa demanded immediate release of all political pensioners including party president Mehbooba Mufti, who has been detained since August 2019.
