JAMMU, July 20: Sub-Judge Jammu Pawan Kumar Sharma has rejected the bail application of a woman fraudster namely Sonia Gupta.
According to the police case, one Raj Kumar Bajaj lodged a report with Police Station Janipur mentioning that he has been cheated and fraud committed upon him. He claimed that he took a policy from ICICI Pro Life Insurance Company on 21.11.2017 in his name and accordingly premium to the tune of Rs 24,70,450 was also paid.
On this report, police registered FIR and started investigation in which accused has been arrested and the investigation is in progress.
After hearing Senior PO Puja Nijhon appearing for the State, the court observed, “the investigation is at preliminary stage and applicant is just one person arrested in the case and many other are yet to be arrested who are involved in the case”, adding “the applicant is resident of Delhi and may not be available for investigation and trial if released on bail”.
“The allegation against the applicant is that she has received by way of transfer about Rs 25 lakh from the complainant on the false assurance of insurance company. The money so taken from complainant was his pension and retirement benefits. It appears that an innocent retired employee has been trapped by the accused and her other companion”, the court further observed.
