JAMMU, May 17: Members of Muzaffar Hussain Baig Fan’s Club today celebrated the victory of PDP stalwart and former Deputy Chief Minister of the State Muzaffar Hussain Baig. They shouted slogans in support of Baig, burst crackers to give vent to their feelings and distributed sweets among people.
Baig defeated NC’s incumbent Sharief-ud-Din Shariq with a margin of 29,219 votes. Mr Baig polled 1,75,277 against Mr Shariq’s 1,46,058 votes. The separatist-turned-mainstream political outfit People’s Conference-sponsored Salam-ud-Din Bajad polled 71,154 votes while an Independent MLA Engineer Rashid secured 22,090 votes. Independent Aga Syed Abdul Hussain polled 7301 votes.
“When it comes to personalities who have done Jammu and Kashmir proud, we feel it is our duty to spread the message. Baig has made us feel more proud than ever. He is undoubtedly greatest amongst leaders Jammu and Kashmir ever had,” said Naveen Jain, chairman of the Muzaffar Hussain Baig Fan’s Club.
Jain said Baig has achieved a distinction for himself both in the public and professional life as a politician and lawyer and it is only because of his sheer talent, determination and maturity of thought he has proved to be an asset for the State of which we all should be proud of.
Jain said that Baig has contributed immensely to the State as Deputy Chief Minister by holding charge of Finance, Planning and Tourism Ministries and it is also because of experience and discipline he brought in these important Ministries J&K could see a robust growth during PDP-led Coalition Government.
The members of the Fan’s Club who participated in the celebrations included Sanjeev Kerni, Vijay Kumar, Vikram Dhawan, Surinder Kumar, Vishal Sharma and others.
Meanwhile, PDP Labour cell has congratulated all the winning candidates of the party for their splendid victory in the Lok Sabha elections results in Kashmir valley.
Labour cell has warmly greeted party president Mehbooba Mufti who win the Anantnag seat, Tariq Hamid Karra, who won the Srinagar seat and Muzaffar Hussain Beig, who won the Baramullah seat by defeating their National Conference candidates by huge margin.
In a statement Labour cell senior leader Rafiq Malik has thanked the people for turning in huge number to ensure the win of the party candidates and has asked the people of the State to support PDP in upcoming Assembly polls.
