Azad urges youth not to risk lives by going to encounter sites

srinagar, Apr 2: Former Chief Minister and senior Congress AICC leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, today appealed youth not risk their lives by converging at the encounter sites in Kashmir. He said that  the winning of National Conference- Congress candidates is aimed at strengthening of secular forces in the State and the Country.
Addressing an election rally at Damhal- Hanjipora area of Anantnag constituency today Azad urged youth not to go to encounter sites as it risks their lives. “I would not like children to go to encounter sites, it is not good thing and I am not in this favour that children rush to the encounter sites. Obviously it is akin to playing with fire. When there is exchange of gunfire between army and militants and whether he be elderly person, youngster or a children he will face loss in the crossfire”, he said.
“I am not proponent of this that where there is gunfire exchange from either side because our children could be victims of bullet that is exchanged between our security forces and militants”, he said.
Azad said that last year tourism was badly hit due to unrest in Kashmir. “Last year also the situation deteriorated and poor was the most affected, their bread and butter is relied on tourism particularly those of Kashmir.  Already the unemployment in our State is at its height. But whatever is manageable through tourism also gets affected due to bad situation”, he said.
The former Chief Minister said that victory of NC-Congress candidates in the by-polls amounts to victory of unifying and secular forces in the State as secular fabric of the country as well as in the State is in great danger. He said there is a need to take effective measures to fight the “menace of RSS”.
There is mass discontent among the people due to misrule and mismanagement of the situation, arising from time, in the Valley, as a result, people in entire valley are living in a great fear, he blamed the ruling coalition for deep alienation among the people
GA Mir  lashed out at ruling dispensation for victimizing people on political lines. PDP has lost the ground due to its unfriendly attitude towards the people, besides the wrong policies adopted by this party, from time to time, disturbed the socio political scenario of the Sate.
He said PDP has not come upto the expectations of the, as the promises made during the 2014 Assembly elections have proved a blatant lie, as result, there is a great resentment against the ruling dispensation.
