Azad serves legal notice to Punjab based doc

JAMMU, Nov 25: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad has served legal notice upon Dr Shiv Kashyap of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab seeking Rs 10 crore compensation for tarnishing his image through most defamatory post on the Facebook.
The legal notice served to Dr Shiv Kashyap, Physician and Surgeon through Advocate Naresh Kumar Gupta reads: “Ghulam Nabi Azad is having graceful and unimpeachable political career and commanding public and political image for the last 4-5 decades but you (Dr Shiv Kashyap) in order to harm, vandalize and tarnish the image and high reputation of Ghulam Nabi Azad for extraneous reasons, knowingly and deliberately posted a most defamatory and scandalous post on Facebook on October 16, 2019”.
Besides a highly defamatory and derogatory post, the doctor had also posted photograph of Ghulam Nabi Azad with most absurd and scandalous inscription. “Your (Dr Shiv Kashyap) action has caused immense and irreparable damage and loss to the status, name, fame, prestige and reputation of my client, who was highly regarded for his secular, impartial and just approach”, the notice further reads.
“Although no amount of compensation can compensate my client in terms of damage caused to the prestige and reputation but still my client is of the firm belief that people like you should not be spared and snubbed with heavy hand”, Advocate Gupta said in the notice.
Through the legal notice, Dr Kashyap has been asked to pay Rs 10 crore as damages within a period of 40 days failing which court of competent jurisdiction will be approached for redressal/recovery of the amount.
