LEH, Dec 23: A high level team of Ministry of AYUSH, led by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary Ministry of AYUSH, GoI, met with Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh, Gyal P Wangyal and Deputy Chairman Tsering Sandup at Council Secretariat this evening and discussed about the establishment of recently approved National Institute for Sowa-Rigpa in Leh.
It is to pertinent to mention that the Union Cabinet recently approved the establishment of the National Institute for Sowa-Rigpa (NISR) in Leh as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH at an estimated cost of Rs 47.25 crore.
CEC Wangyal, welcoming the team to Leh, said that people of Ladakh are highly thankful to the GoI led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving National Institute for Sowa-Rigpa in Leh. He said that this prestigious project will give a new identity to Ladakh in near future.
Wangyal said that valuing the traditional Amchi system of Himalayan region will go a long way in reviving this invaluable treasure of Ladakh and Hill Council is committed to extend every possible support for establishment of this prestigious project in Leh at the earliest possible time.
The meeting had a fruitful discussion on allotment of suitable land for NISR nearby Leh and also discussed at length about creation of separate directorate of AYUSH in Leh and merger of traditional Amchies in the new system etc.
Dr Padma Gurmet, NRIS Leh, Addl Secretary P K Pathak AYUSH, Joint Secretary AYUSH Ranjeet Kumar and DG, CCRAS K.S Dhimau were present in the meeting.
