Ayurvedic Congress demands removal of ISM Director General

JAMMU, Nov 7: Expressing its serious concern over purported supply of spurious ISM drugs to Government dispensaries, the Jammu and Kashmir chapter of All India Ayurvedic Congress has demanded removal of the incumbent Director General AYUSH till pending inquiry.
In reference to the news items, ‘published in November 6 issue of the Excelsior, “Supply of spurious ISM drugs to Govt dispensaries: more skeletons tumble out”, the Ayurvedic Congress has stressed that impartial and speedy inquiry needs to be undertaken in order to pinpoint culprits for such heinous crime.
Since whole episode involves public health and larger interests of ailing masses, it is imperative that impartial and speedy inquiry needs to be undertaken, the Ayurvedic Congress said and added that the Director General of AYUSH needs to be relinquished from his post in order to avoid any interference and influence in the inquiry.
The Ayurvedic Congress pointed out that the Director General AYUSH has got pivotal role in approval and procurement of drugs supplied to AYUSH institutions of the State. “ If the criminals are not brought to book, the menace of spurious drugs will never die down and helpless consumers will continue to suffer for no fault of theirs,” the Ayurvedic Congress explained.
