JAMMU, Aug 22:  The Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), which has outstanding history of supporting the welfare activities of the Indian Army, celebrated 49th AWWA day with great warmth and enthusiasm   at Tiger Division here today.
With the theme ‘Sehat Se Baney Nyara Chamakta Tara Hamara’, a special welfare meet was organized at Tiger Auditorium where in all ladies & Veer Naris attended the function.
This year’s AWWA day celebrations witnessed a judicious mix of theme based activities like breast cancer detection camps, lectures on health and hygiene issues and medicinal herb plantation etc.  In keeping with the customary festivities of the event, the movie “Queen” was screened to drive home the message of women empowerment.
In consonance with the theme, an herb plantation drive was organized at the Tiger Auditorium.  Bindya Narain, Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, Tiger Division led the initiative by planting a sapling and in the process driving the message home that all of us are duty bound to ensure a clean & green environment for future generations.
AWWA is an effective NGO, working meaningfully for the socio-economic empowerment of `Veer Naris’ and families, creating ability beyond disability and building bridges for pre-school education.  The association has become synonymous with selfless service, devotion, commitment and care.
