JAMMU, Dec 19: Depart-ment of Food Safety Jammu organized two days awareness camp on food hygiene at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
In the camp, owners and workers of different restaurants and food handlers operating in Gole Market and surrounding areas participated.
A team from Department of Food Safety Jammu led by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Jammu Dr Parvesh Kumar apprised the participants about benefits of personal hygiene.
While speaking, Dr Parvesh Kumar asked the participants to maintain personal hygiene, keep food containers clean and maintain dress code.
He also apprised them about the usage of caps, masks, gloves, proper dress code, protective caps, usage of knives, clean cutting boards and proper maintenance of temperature and timing of food in freezers.
He stressed upon the participants to minimize the risk of food contamination and not to use colour additives. “Don’t keep dustbins and drainage open near their restaurants as it is open invitation to the various diseases like Hepatitis A, etc”.
“Importance of awareness about hygiene procedures by food handlers is important because it keep your and others health secure”, Assistant Commissioner said, adding that department will continue to organize that such activities in future also.
The participants showed keen interest during the camp and appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing such importance activities.
They hoped that the department will continue to organize these kinds of activities in future.
Among others present were Ajay Khajuria, Daleep Singh, Hans Raj and Jai Inder Kotwal, Food officers.
