Attack on health employee: JKMEF seeks stern action against culprit

JAMMU, July 10: Jammu unit of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employee Federation (JKMEF), Jammu has condemned the attack on a Health employee at quarantine centre Thandi Khui in district Samba and urged upon the Government to take stern action against the culprit under the Disaster Management Act.
Addressing a press conference here today, Sushil Sudan, president JKMEF, said that any physical or verbal attack on the health employees, who have been performing their duties tirelessly round the clock in this COVID-19 pandemic, can’t be tolerated.

Sudan sought stern action against the culprit and demanded that the law enforcing agencies should be made accountable for such type of security lapses. He appealed the Government to ensure safety of the health employees on priority and also solve the problems faced by them on ground regarding the collection of sample collections.
Later, the Federation submitted a memorandum to Director Health Services, Jammu and discussed the prevailing situation and the burning demands of the employees regarding the clearance of DPC and wash room for health employees working in directorate complex.
Director Dr Renu Sharma listened to their demands patiently and assured to take action on their demands in a phased manner.
The Federation decided if the administration fails to resolve the issues of health employees and if the situation like Thandi Khui arises again, the JKMEF will be left with no option except going on strike.
