Assessment of natural calamity losses, fresh BPL survey demanded

SUNDERBANI, July 27: Augmentation of drinking water supply schemes and tapping potable ground water besides road connectivity is life of villagers.
This was stated by Ashok Sharma, former legislator and Chairman, All J&K Kissan Union (AJKKU) while addressing farmers of Ward no. 2 and 5 (Mela) hamlet of village Channi Parat in Sunderbani.
Sharma expressed serious concern over non-inclusion of leftover families in BPL list and urged upon the Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary for personal intervention and directions for fresh survey of BPL in Rajouri district.
He also urged upon the administration to constitute special teams on district level to assess losses of the cattle, crops and injuries and loss of lives due to unprecedented rains, floods and cloudbursts.
Sharma said that the villagers of Mela need a bridge near GMS Mela, reassessment of BPL survey list, making drinking water scheme functional by replacing 2.5″ pipes which are damaged and are 25 in number.
The meeting was organized by Tilak Raj Sharma, who was unanimously elected as president; Subash Chander, vice president; Romesh Chander, general secretary; Kuldip Kumar, secretary; R. Kumar and Ashok Kumar, Yesh Paul, Khan Mohd, Goruv Sharma, Kewal Krishan and Bal Krishan-all members of AJKKU.
