One Excavator, 3 dumpers seized for illegal mining

KATHUA, July 27: District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kathua seized machinery and vehicles of Project and Infrastructure Limited (PRL) company involved in illegal mining in Sahar Khad here, today.
The Project and Infrastructure Limited (PRL) Company has illegal excavated 1430 MTS of nallah muck in Sahar Khad by using one heavy excavator and three dumpers for further transportation to the site of ongoing Four Lane Widening Project to raise its bed.
The excavator No-VCEC200DL00250163 and dumpers bearing Nos-JK08H-7824, JK08G-6836 and JK08D-3839 after seizure were handed over to police party led by SHO Kathua, O.P Chib. Reportedly, total of over four lakhs penalty will be imposed on the company as per the rules of Geology and Mining Department.
The company engineers and representatives were also called on the spot and instructed for not lifting the nallah muck without any valid permission.
Instructions were issued to the company for applying for Disposal Permits (DPs) and Short-Term Permits (STPs) wherever required for lifting muck, sand, Bajri etc for ongoing widening of Four lane Project in Kathua district for which the online service is also available, DMO said.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rahul Pandey and Director Geology and Mining, Om Parkash Bhagat were immediately apprised about the illegal excavation of 120 dumpers of nallah muck by the company in the Khad far the last three days.
The company was also assured by DMO that all possible support shall be provided for supplying construction material for ongoing road projects but illegal mining and excavation in the river and Khads will not be allowed at any cost.
The overall drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal.
