Santosh, Chug ask party men to strengthen organization from grassroots level

JAMMU, Jan 11: Quick on the heels of party leaders’ meeting with Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in New Delhi recently, BJP in its Core Group meeting today gave a clarion call to party men to gear up for the Assembly elections likely to be held in April-May this year.
This was disclosed by senior party leaders in the meeting this evening which followed the party’s office bearers and senior leaders meeting held during the day at Purmandal road in Bari Brahmana tehsil of Samba district. The Core Group meeting, which was presided over by Party’s national general secretary (Org), B L Santosh, national general secretary in charge J&K, was attended Tarun Chug, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, party co incharge J&K Ashish Sood, BJP J&K State president, Ravinder Raina, party general secretary (Org), JK UT, Ashok Koul, former deputy CMs, Dr Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta, MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma and party general secretaries, Dr D K Manyal, Sunil Sharma and Vibodh Gupta, former Minister, Sat Sharma, chairperson Wakf Board, Dr Darakshan Andrabi, ex-MLA, Devender Rana and party chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi.
MP (RS) Ghulam Ali Khatana, national secretary, Dr Narender Singh, party vice president, Shakti Parihar and its spokesperson, Girdhari Lal (Ajay Bharti) who are out of UT could not attend the meeting.
During the Core Group meeting, according to party sources, both B L Santosh and Tarun Chug while dropping enough hints that Assembly elections are likely to be held in April -May this year asked the party leaders to gear up the cadre from grassroots level for the same. They said Assembly poll will be followed by local body elections which can be held ending this year and Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.
Sources said that national leaders asked the Core Group members that the Assembly elections this time will be crucial for the UT and party cadre has to ensure the victory of over 50 seats to form the next Government in the UT on its own as these elections will be held first time after the abrogation of controversial Article 370 and 35 -A.
Earlier, addressing the general meeting of BJP office bearers, senior leaders, former Ministers and legislators, Prabharis, newly constituted Committees of Assembly and Lok Sabha segments, Vistarks, district presidents and incharges, the BJP leaders said that the dates of elections can be declared any time by the Election Commission and party has to start its ground work from today. They urged its activists to fan out in length and breadth of the UT to take Modi Government’s achievements and public welfare programmes to masses.
Party national general secretary (Org), B L Santosh, while addressing the meeting stressed on strengthening party from booth level. He, while discussing niceties of organizational work stressed on strengthening the party right from grassroots level with much focus on campaigning among the masses by taking party programmes and policies among them and highlighting the achievements of the Modi Government. He also stressed on proper management at booth level which is the key to party’s success in elections. He urged the newly appointed office bearers and committee members to dedicate themselves towards their assignments with renewed energies.
Santosh said that party has to ensure that not a single BJP vote is lost in the UT to ensure the party’s victory at hustings as there should be no competitive of BJP after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A and victory of BJP in the coming elections in UT of J&K is must to stamp the Modi Government’s decision of abrogation of controversial Articles which had been barriers in progress and prosperity of J&K, he added.
He urged the newly elected office bearers, Prabharis, Vistarks and constituency incharges to work whole heartedly in their respective areas as this will be a major election campaign after the historical abrogation of controversial Articles.
In the meeting for the first time representatives of all 43 Assembly segments Jammu region and five Parliamentary constituencies of J&K UT were present.
Tarun Chug, national general secretary BJP and incharge J&K, in his address ,said that the militants responsible for Rajouri attack will be eliminated saying that they have full faith and trust on security forces who will trace them out and deal them under the law of the land. He said that a new team arrangement has been made in the UT of J&K by constituting committees for Assembly and Parliamentary segments. This is a new arrangement in the party which can pay dividends in the coming elections, he added.
“Though the dates of elections are to be announced by Election Commission but at the party level our activists have to remain fully prepared from today. This is the high time when the newly constituted teams can prove their credibility”’, he added.
In his address, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh said it is the duty of party men to educate the people about all round development which took place in J&K during nine years rule of Narendra Modi Government. “It is time to carry out our achievements to the masses and for that every BJP worker must be aware about the all round development in the UT”. He, however, maintained that BJP activists are capable to take the party policies and programmes to public.
During the meeting the coming party programmes were also announced for the UT.
Earlier, two minutes silence was observed in memory of martyrs of Upper Dhangri of Rajouri district. Later, in his welcome address, party UT president, Ravinder Raina said that the militancy gripped the Kashmir valley in 1990 and later it spread to Jammu region also. He said BJP faced its brunt and some leaders of the party were also martyred.
He, however, took a strong dig at National Conference (NC), Congress and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) saying they had no clear policy in curbing militancy in the erstwhile State and these parties continued the appeasement policy towards anti- nationals and separatists. But the Modi Government showed the zero tolerance against the terrorism and “we succeeded in containing it”. However, some unfortunate incidents recently aimed at creating communal disturbances in the UT will be crushed with iron hands and the militants and their mentors designs will not be allowed to succeed, he added.
BJP general secretary (org), Ashok Koul, while assigning duties to Prabharis and whole timers reiterated the party’s mantra “Booth Jeeta to Chunav Jeeta”( winning booth means winning election). He urged party men to increase their activities at booth level and maintain party discipline to further PM Modi’s Vision and Mission.
BJP co incharge J&K, Ashish Sood and other senior party leaders from UT including ex legislators and Ministers were also present in the meeting.
