JAMMU, June 28: Apni Party Provincial president, Jammu and former minister, Manjit Singh has said that holding of Assembly elections in J&K is significant for peace and development, especially when the bureaucracy has failed to win over the confidence of the people.
“The bureaucracy has added to the miseries of the people. Therefore, elections should be held so that a popular Govt could work for the people and end the suffering of the people who have left with no representation after August 5, 2019,” Manjit Singh said in a press statement.
Talking to District presidents and Coordinators of the Party representing different districts, Manjit Singh urged the party leaders to work among the people so that the mass base of the Party increases and establish contact with them. He said there was anger among the people because of the disconnect of the administration in absence of an elected Govt. Further, delaying elections may not be in the interest of J&K. The developmental projects and even small works have been delayed and there is no one to question the delaying practice adopted by several departments.
“There is visible disappointment among the elected Panchayat members, BDCs and DDCs as the officials do not listen to them. The Govt should make the officials accountable and the elected members of Panchayati Raj should be given due respect and their developmental plans must be fulfilled, besides resolving their issues,” he added.
Prominent among those who participated in the meeting included- Dr Rohit Gupta, Mohinder Parihar, Hans Raj Dogra, Pushp Dev Uppal, Neiljan Arora, Raman Thappa, Fariq Nath, Prem Lal, Ajaz Kazmi, Raqeeq Khan and others.
