SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health, Medical Education and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash today conducted an extensive tour of Shia areas of Hazratbal constituency to review the arrangements made for the holy month of Muharram.
The Minister was accompanied by Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Dr Shafaqat Khan, XeN LAWDA, Raman Gupta, PHE and PDD officials and other concerned officials.
The Minister visited interiors of Dal Lake, Mirakshah and Hassanabad areas of Hazratbal.
At Mirakshah, the Minister directed the officials to take necessary measures for providing uninterrupted basic amenities for the smooth conduct of Muharram, so that people don’t face any inconvenience.
The Minister directed the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure that street lights in these areas are fully functional and defunct ones are replaced immediately. She urged the SMC officials to initiate special cleanliness drives in those areas where Muharram processions are being taken out.
For the smooth passage of processions, the Minister asked the LAWDA officials to level and stone top the roads.
Enroute she interacted with several deputations and received the appraisal of their issues and demands. She gave a patient hearing to the people and assured that their genuine issues would be considered and grievances redressed in a time bound manner.
