Srinagar, Aug 28: Inspector General (Operations) Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today said that militants are desperate to strike to inflict casualty but security forces are ready to foil their designs. And in South Kashmir, militants shot dead a police officer while a massive operation has been launched against the militants.

IG (Operations) CRPF, Zulfikar Hussain, told reporters in Anantnag that militants are desperate to carry out attacks on security forces but the troops are ready to tackle it. “In recent days, some top militants were killed in South Kashmir in which there was important role of CRPF battalions. We understand that those people (militants) in their desperation are trying to attack security forces and inflict damage. We are ready to tackle this situation and in coming days, our success will surge”, he said.
Hussain said that CRPF and J&K Police displayed exemplary courage and saved lives of civilians inside the DPL Pulwama during fidayeen attack. “The CRPF’s 182 and 183 battalions displayed extreme bravery in partnership with Jammu and Kashmir Police during recent attack on DPL Pulwama. It was a challenging moment as there were families, police lines security and also companies of CRPF. So, with extreme bravery, all three terrorists were killed and civilian families were protected. Our four brave hearts were martyred and some personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police were also martyred and some of our personnel were injured. Three people are very critical among injured who are in hospital. We hope all of them are discharged in good health. If there is need of shifting them to Delhi from Srinagar, we will do that after they get stable”, he said.
In the meantime, a Police officer was shot dead by militants in South Kashmir district of Anantnag today. An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Abdul Rashid Peer, was shot at by militants in Mehandi Kadal, Anantnag this afternoon.
The militants fled leaving him in a pool of blood and he was rushed to district hospital Anantnag by his colleagues where from he was shifted to Srinagar for treatment but he succumbed to injuries.
Tributes were paid to the Police officer at wreath laying ceremony in DPL Srinagar.
And security forces today launched massive search operations against militants in Shopian villages of South Kashmir to flush them out. Search operation was launched early morning by SOG Shopian and 62 RR of Army in Matribugh, Zoipora, Dangam, Wangam, Shahpora, Zoipora, Chakoora and several other villages of Shopian.
The operation was launched in general search operation of these villages. Few months ago videos circulating on social media where a group of 30 militants brandishing with AK 47 were seen was shot there.
Security forces today conducted searches in Kulgam near the Mini Secretariat after reports of presence of militants in its vicinity. The operation was later called off and no one was arrested.
