JAMMU, Apr 13: ‘Ashaayein’ (Vyeth Production), a film on a slum dweller of Jammu, has been nominated by Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF), Jaipur.
The film depicts the hopes of a little and an innocent rag picker which remains unfulfilled and therefore circumstances force him to indulge in criminal activities, though the boy does not belong to a criminal background. As a result he suffers from psychological conflict which ultimately forces him to commit suicide.
The film is written and produced by Prof Virender Rawal, directed by Riky Bhat and its music is arranged by Naresh.
Ashaayein is a 30 minutes (HD) film shot partly in Kalika and partly in Akhnoor road slums of Jammu. This film was formally released by the then Minister for Relief, Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla in Abhinav theatre on July 23, 2011 in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages.
