JAMMU, June 6: Continuing his focus on strengthening civic infrastructure in Jammu West Assembly constituency, MLA, Arvind Gupta on Saturday launched the first phase of major development works in Ward No. 40, Jawahar Nagar, with a total project outlay of Rs 1.62 crore.
The Project will be implemented in three phases. The first phase, inaugurated today, is being funded through flood restoration funds released by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, as Jawahar Nagar was among the areas affected by previous flooding incidents. The remaining two phases will be taken up under CAPEX funding during the current financial year.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said several localities in Ward No. 40 had been awaiting major infrastructure upgrades for nearly 25 years, and the commencement of these projects marks a significant step towards fulfilling long-pending public demands.
Gupta also expressed gratitude to JMC Commissioner, Devansh Yadav for his people-centric approach and support in facilitating the release of funds for the restoration and development works.
He said the BJP-led Government remains committed to delivering quality infrastructure and improving the living standards of residents through planned and sustained development. Gupta assured the public that all pending developmental requirements of Ward No. 40 would be taken up in a phased manner and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
During the visit, the MLA also interacted with local residents and listened to their grievances and demands. The residents raised issues related to sanitation, power supply, civic amenities and other local concerns. Gupta assured them that all genuine issues would be addressed in coordination with the concerned departments and that every effort would be made to provide timely solutions.
“The welfare of the people remains our top priority. Development is not limited to roads and drains alone; it also includes ensuring better sanitation, reliable power supply and improved civic services. We are committed to resolving all public issues with the best possible efforts and ensuring that no area is left behind in the development process,” Gupta said.
