JAMMU, Apr 22: Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs conducted a two-day tour of Chandigarh. He visited Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Zeerakhpur and Ropar and met a cross section of society of the State. He was invited by the Kashmir Sahayak Samiti, Chandigarh and KP Sabha, Panchkula.
Those who attended the two programmes included R.K.Dalal, president-KSS Chandigarh, Sunil Pandita, president-KSS Panchkula, senior member, B.L.Sadhu, Shivdass Raina, national coordinator-Panun Kashmir, Ramesh Kaul and BJP Chandigarh Executive Member, I.K.Kaul, Meenakshi Bhat, Neelam Handoo and Dazy Kaul.
On the occasion Chrungoo also shared his booklet “Terrorism in J&K: a historical perspective” with the participants.
Addressing both the programmes, Chrungoo said the present elections have assumed the status of watershed in the political history of India. BJP has taken a big lead so far as the political, intellectual and ideological content of the campaigning is concerned. BJP’s pointed references to Article 370, Article 35A, national security, terrorism, other national issues like UCC and development connected with scientific and technological advancement of the country are aimed at clearing the mist on the basic concerns of the nation and the people of the country.
Referring to the issue of abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A, he said that while Article 370 is a transitory and temporary provision of the Constitution, Article 35A is straightway a Constitutional fraud. The introduction of this Article in the Constitution of India by a Presidential order in 1954 is a clear transgression of powers given by the Constitution. It is also a clear violation of Article 368 of the Constitution.
He said threats issued by the Kashmir centric political parties expose their sheer ignorance of the political, Constitutional and historical facts connected with this issue.
Chrungoo said BJP has always taken up the issues of Kashmiri Pandit community and we stand committed to our position in this regard. There will be no compromise on national interests regarding the J&K State. PM Modi has pain, as expressed by him in his campaigning, in regard to the displacement of the Pandits from Kashmir and he is committed to their final resettlement in the Valley. “We are also conscious of the aspirations of the Pandits in this regard”, he added.
