BJP committed to implementation of UCC

JAMMU, Nov 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said no one would have imagined in the country that Article 370 of the Constitution of India will be abrogated and not even a single bullet will be fired.
In an interview to ABP Asmita, Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi displayed commitment and abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution of India (which granted special status to erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir).
“Not a single bullet was fired. Nothing happened in Kashmir. No one would have imagined this,” Shah said.
The Central Government had abrogated special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019 and bifurcated erstwhile State into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
Shah reiterated his party’s commitment to implementing the Uniform Civil Code in India.
He said it is part of the BJP’s agenda, from the days of the establishment of the Jana Sangh and added that it has always been the Congress which opposed the Uniform Civil Code because the party itself practised the politics of appeasement.
The Home Minister said this in light of the fact that just days ago the Gujarat Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had cleared a proposal to constitute a committee to implement the UCC in the State.
Asked about who would be the BJP’s CM face in Gujarat, Shah was categorical in his answer saying where is the question of change? The elections are being held under the leadership of Bhupendra bhai, so it is natural that the people of Gujarat will stamp their approval in his name.
He said that the BJP’s biggest resolution is to make India number one and that on the occasion of the Amrit Mahotsav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that by 2047, on the centenary of India’s Independence, the country would be number one in every field.
He added that under the leadership of Modi, the country has made such amazing developmental progress. Hence, in 2022 as well, the people of Gujarat will give the BJP a thumping majority in the State.
When asked about the new entrant AAP in Gujarat and their touting of the Delhi Education Model promising free education, Shah scoffed at the political messaging.
He said that the AAP party does not know that education in Gujarat has been free since the year 1960. The kind of development that has taken place in Gujarat and the results that have been achieved, no one in the country could have ever imagined.
