Army pays tributes to martyrs

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Army today paid befitting tributes to three of its jawans who attained martyrdom during counter terrorist operations on Sunday in Kachdora village of Shopian district in which five militants were eliminated. Click here to watch video
An Army spokesman said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyrs on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyrs.
He said Late L/Nk Nilesh Singh, Gnr Arvinder Kumar and Sep Hetram sustained bullet injuries during the fierce operation in Kachdora village of Shopian district and were provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
“L/Nk Nilesh Singh, 31 years of age, had joined Army in 2003 and hailed from Village Nagri in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He is survived by his wife and a son. Martyr Gnr Arvinder Kumar had joined the Army in 2012 and belonged to Village Sariana in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab and is survived by his parents, a sister and a brother. Coming from Village Sonigasar Godars in Bikaner, Rajasthan, the martyr Sep Hetram was 25 years old and had joined Army in 2013. He is survived by his wife and parents,” he said, adding, “the mortal remains of the martyrs were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours.”
