Army organizes Sadhbhavana activities to celebrate Army Day

SRINAGAR, Jan 15: To commemorate Army Day, various events were organized under the aegis of ‘Operation Sadhbhavana’.
The Army’s 27 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in its area organized Cricket and Volleyball tournaments, two medical-cum-veterinary camps and a low cost valley integration tour.
The celebrations were kicked off with the conduct of inter village volleyball competitions “Malangam Super League” and “Kiatsan Super League” in which eight teams participated and Malangam B and Sheikh Muqam emerged winners respectively.
A cricket tournament “Watlab Cricket League” was also organized, in which a total of 21 teams took part. The finals of the tournament was played between Ashtiung ‘B’ and Kemaghatand, in which Ashtiung ‘B’ emerged winner.
In Paribal Cricket League, the final match was played between Watrina and Lawaipura, in which Watrina emerged winner.
In addition of engaging youths in the sports competitions, the unit organised two medical-cum-veterinary camps at Kiuhnus village and Malangam.
A total of 892 adults, 270 children and 2880 animals were provided with free treatment and medical advice. The team of doctors from Army Medical Corps and Veterinary Corps with the help of civil administration and Health Department provided free treatment and winter advisories.
The Unit also organised a Low Cost Valley Integration Tour, in which 20 youths and elders including Moulvies participated. The tour covered important religious and historical sites in and around Srinagar.
Col Tushar S Bhakay, Officiating Commander 5 Sector RR gave away the prizes and handed over the trophies to winners and runners up teams today at a function held at Paribal Tekri.
