KISHTWAR, Dec 19: Army based at Kishtwar organized a “Run for Fun” and Afforestation Drive at Chhatru, near here.
The event was coordinated alongwith the civil administration wherein the DC, SSP, and DFO Kishtwar participated alongwith prominent citizens. The event witnessed a huge turn around of 700 participants with a mix of old and the young.
The Cross Country included 8 Km run for open category and 3 Km run for the Senior Citizens, ladies and children of Chhatru, Mughal Maidan, Chingam and nearby villages.
An afforestation drive was also organized by the Army to spread awareness amongst locals of Chhatru towards the importance of greenery and afforestation.
The event was another step towards creating awareness amongst the locals, to contribute in improving the environment. On culmination of the grand event prizes were given away to the winners of the Cross Country.
The event also witnessed culmination of welding cadre organized by the Army based at Chhatru wherein, 25 youth were trained for over three weeks . They were issued certificates for welding course.
