POONCH, Sept 23: A rally for Ex-servicemen was organised at Mendhar in district Poonch by the Indian Army on Tuesday.
The event was attended by a large number of Army veterans from the region. The Army provided a platform to the retired Defence personnel for meaningful interaction, their welfare outreach and camaraderie.
The Deputy General Officer Commanding, Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo Force), attended the rally as the chief guest. On this occasion, Ex-Servicemen who had rendered noteworthy assistance during Operation Sindoor and in relief efforts during the recent heavy rains were felicitated.
Civil administration officials, including the SDM and SDPO Mendhar, assured the veterans that issues raised would be addressed promptly through the recently established Grievance Redressal Points (GRPs), facilitating the resolution of matters related to pensions, documentation and property disputes.
A number of stalls were set up by the Horticulture, Industries and Poultry Departments, as well as the banks, to apprise Ex-servicemen of welfare schemes, self-employment avenues and financial assistance options.
The interaction enabled veterans to share their experiences and convey concerns directly to civil and military authorities, thereby strengthening the bond between the serving fraternity, the veterans and the local administration.
The event concluded with a community lunch, reinforcing the spirit of brotherhood and reaffirming the continued commitment of the Indian Army and Civil Administration towards the welfare of Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris.
