Natrang stages play ‘Meri Viraasat Mera Garv’

KATHUA, Sept 23: In connection with Basholi Utsav-2025, theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged Hindi play ‘Meri Viraasat Mera Garv’ at three different places-Zero Morh, Basholi, Bus Stand, Basholi and Atal Setu, Basholi.
Organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, written Pawan Verma and directed by Neeraj Kant, the play opened with a group of actors raising slogans about the preservation of heritage, culture and language.
A narrator comes and asks the youth about cause of the slogans. The actors explained that their mission was to spread awareness regarding protection of heritage.
The narrative then unfolded around Jammu’s historic Mubarak Mandi Palace, now lying in ruins. A young girl personifying Mubarak Mandi enters the stage, expressing her sorrow over the present condition of the palace, she appeals to the audience to contribute to the mission of safeguarding the heritage. Her plea inspired a group of youngsters to pledge their commitment towards raising awareness and working actively for preservation.
The scene is then shifted to a classroom where a teacher engages his students in dialogue on identity and introduces them with world-famous Basohli miniature paintings. He also shed light on the traditional folk dance ‘Kud’.
Artists who performed in the play were Neeraj Kant, Pawan Verma, Kushal Bhat, Aryan Sharma, Bablu Kumar, Kananpreet Kaur, Vandana Sharma and Kartik Kumar.
