SRINAGAR, Nov 24: An educational-cum-awareness tour for the students and teachers of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was flagged off today.
A defence spokesman said the tour was flagged off in presence of senior army officials, civil dignitaries, Sarpanchs and locals from different villages at Charkut in the district. “The tour has been planned for the students and teachers for a period of ten days in which the participants would visit Udhampur, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Chandigarh till December 2,” he said.
The defence spokesman said the students and teachers from all over the Lolab Valley will be visiting places of tourist, educational and historical importance such as Golden temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab Agricultural University Museum and Sukhna Lake.
“Interaction with the Governor of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh will be a highlight of the tour in addition to interaction with senior Army officers at Udhampur and Amritsar. The participants would also get an opportunity to interact with people from various parts of the country and learn about their culture and traditions,” he added.
