Army organises tour for Mendhar youth

POONCH, July 19: “Heart of India”, an educational and motivational tour for youth of remote and far flung areas of Mendhar tehsil, in district Poonch was organized by Rashtriya Rifles battalion of the Army under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo).
During the tour, the participants will visit Jammu, Bhopal and Indore.
Apart from instilling a sense of awareness amongst the youth, the tour aims at promoting national integration, religious harmony and provides valuable exposure to the rich cultural heritage and all round progress made by our country especially in the field of education.
The youth from various schools of Mendhar tehsil, during the tour are scheduled to visit Buddhist monuments, Bharat Bhawan, Van Vihar National Park, Sports Stadium, DB City Mall and Fish Aquarium in Bhopal, Daly College, Indore Museum, Zoo, C-21, Malhar Mall and Rajwada in Indore. They will also visit Raghunath Market at Jammu. These children are also scheduled to meet the Chief Minister of MP Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Ex Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Bana Singh, PVC.
24 youth from various schools and one school teacher of Mendhar tehsil are part of this tour. Names of youth were forwarded by the school administration on the basis of being from remote area and economically weaker sections of the society.
The tour was flagged off by a Rashtriya Rifles sector commander today from Mendhar. Prominent military and civil dignitaries were present on the occasion. The locals and the families of these youth expressed their gratitude to the Army for giving them an opportunity to visit other parts of the country. They were confident that this endeavour would broaden their horizon and have a positive impact on their young impressionable minds.
