Srinagar, Sept 10: Army in remote Tanghdar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district organised ‘Ziarat Mela’ today in honour of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Shah whose graveyard is located near SM Hill.
A defence spokesman said that the graveyard is popularly known as Peer Baba Mohkumdeen and widely “worshiped” by locals and army men alike. “Annual festivities on the shrine were organised today by the army,” he said.
He said that over 600 villagers from Nalchian, Dudhwain, Handwal, Khorpara, Hajinar, Bagh Bela, Barwan, Jabri, Kacharian, Kandi Bala, Zarla, Tar, Manjban, Chhota Dawana, Udura other villages of Tangdhar and nearby Bhaiks from the area attended the event with great enthusiasm and fervor.
“Special prayers were offered during the event followed by community ‘Langar’ for all devotees organised by the locals and army together,” the spokesman added.
