JAMMU, Feb 17: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Nagrota area here on the city outskirts while the dead body of an unknown middle aged man was found today in a passenger shed in Gharota area of city outskirts.
Police sources said that an information was received today around 2 AM from the Army control room that one Sepoy Biswajit Gogoi, resident of Garaguri, District Golaghat, Assam, allegedly committed suicide by using his service weapon at Army camp near Toll Post, Nagrota.
“Police team rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for postmortem,” they said, adding, the deceased Army man was posted in 60 RR based at Budhal, Rajouri and was on QRT duty at Army camp Nagrota. They said that matter is being investigated by Nagrota police.
Meanwhile, the dead body of an unknown man was found today in a passenger shed in Gharota area of city outskirts. “The body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for identification/postmortem,” a police official said, adding, Gharota police had taken cognizance of the matter.
