MENDHAR, Nov 9: An Army jawan posted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch district died in an accidental fire from his service weapon last night.

Official sources said that a jawan deputed on a forward post along the LoC in Mankot sector of Poonch district, received bullet wounds due to accidental fire last night.
Sepoy Swaran R (27), resident of Tamil Nadu, at present deployed with Rashtriya Rifles, later succumbed to injuries in the local Unit hospital.
The body of jawan was brought to the sub-district hospital in Mendhar where the body was handed over to the army after the post-mortem, Block Medical Officer said.
The Army sent the body to his native village for the last rites after a written formality. A case has been registered at the Police Station Mendhar and investigation taken up.
