JAMMU, Nov 19: A Pakistani intruder was killed as the Army foiled an infiltration attempt by the militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The infiltration bid was scuttled on the intervening night of November 17 and 18 in Kalal area of Nowshera sector, the officials said.
“The militant was killed as he tried to negotiate our minefield. His body was found along with war-like stores today,” they said.
Officials said the Army observed the movement of militants trying to sneak into the Indian side of the border.
One of the infiltrators was killed when he stepped over the landmine, they said, adding that an AK-56 rifle and three magazines were recovered from the possession of the slain militant.
Sources said a major terror strike has been averted with timely thwarting of infiltration attempt of the militants by the alert troops.
Generally, the Line of Control (LoC) has been calm in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch since February 2021 when fresh ceasefire agreement came into force between Indo-Pak troops.
Though there have been no major ceasefire violations, the militants continued to make infiltration attempts, majority of which are foiled by the Indian Army.
