Army fires back in Hajipeer

Srinagar, Nov 6: Army for the first time today responded to continuous firing of Pakistani troops in Hajipeer sector where three civilians died in mortar shelling in a forward village last month.
A top Army official said that Pakistani troops fired throughout the last night in forward village of Charunda in Hajipeer sector on Line of Control. He said that Pakistani troops have been firing on the Indian posts since October 1 and on October 16 they killed three civilians in Charunda village.
An Army officer said that after night long firing at Indian posts, Army responded back. “However, the Army fired with utmost retrain to avoid any civilian casualty as the Pakistani posts are inside the village”, the Army officer added.
He said that Army has sensitized the people of Charunda village about safety measures to be taken during the Pakistani firing so as to avoid casualty. “People have been asked not to come out of their homes at the time of the firing and mostly shift to ground floors of their houses”, he added.
