Srinagar, Oct 26: With Diwali, the festival of lights, just a few days away, Army today distributed blankets and sleeping bags among 150 orphan children from two orphanages here.
A defence spokesman said after confirming the essential requirements from the management of Markiz-Falahi-Itifal and Muskaan Foundation, the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) spearheaded by its Zonal President Anuradha Dua, distributed blankets and sleeping bags to the children to help them brace for the harsh winters.
“Books and stationery were also given to the children,” the spokesman said. Interacting with the children, Dua impressed upon them the importance of education and co-curricular activities for a well rounded personality.
“It is always a pleasure to be amongst the children. Their Energy and disarming smiles are ever so inspiring and we wish them all the success in their chosen fields and life,” she said.
