Army Commander reviews situation in Jammu region

‘Mission Reachout’ Conference

JAMMU, Aug 10: A high-level ‘Mission ReachOut’ Conference chaired by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh was held in Nagrota Military Station to review the prevalent situation in Jammu region in view of revocation of Article 370 in J&K.
The conference was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu including members of civil administration, representatives from J&K Police, CRPF, BSF and Intelligence agencies. The prevailing security scenario and preparedness of security agencies and civil administration were discussed during the conference.
It emerged during the conference that the situation in the Jammu region had been peaceful with no untoward incident taking place post the revocation of Article 370, on 05 Aug 19. The Corps Commander was appreciative of the absolute synergy between the Army, Civil Administration and other security establishments in maintaining peace, harmony and conducive environment.
During the conference, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma assured of adequate availability of all basic necessities and essential services to meet the requirements of the people. He further informed that due to normalcy in the region schools in the city were opened from August 10 by the civil administration. He further added that schools and institutions in other areas will also soon start functioning. He also assured of availability and normal functioning of ATMs & banks.
The Corps Commander informed that numerous initiatives have been undertaken by the Army under ‘Mission Reach Out’. Mobile Medical care units with essential medicines and Lady Medical Officer where needed, provision of essentials including rations, assistance in transportation of patients to hospitals, facilitating people to speak to their near and dear through Army exchange, creating safe environment for ATM, Banks & Hospitals to function has been ensured.
In addition, shops to provide day to day needs and ensuring supply chain of essential commodities does not get disrupted, encouraging elders, religious heads, youth and opinion makers to address apprehensions of people and help in maintaining calm and peace, creation of environment that is conducive to perform Friday Prayers and set stage for Eid celebrations were some of the other steps undertaken.
The Corps Commander, during the conference assured of continued Army’s efforts in ensuring that inconvenience to populace is minimum. The Corps Commander also assured the civil administration of full support for reaching out to populace for providing all basic necessities wherever the requirement is felt. The Corps Commander also assured of logistics.
